Thank you for supporting our business!

We know what you’re thinking…. WOW, WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

Sorry for screaming, we just love how it turned out!

So much happened here, starting off with a good purge through all the clothing and getting rid of all the little things that were just taking up space. Following the steps listed on the 10 Steps to Help You Declutter Your Closet, we created a system that worked perfectly with our clients needs and lifestyle.

She had to go through every piece of clothing and thought about how often she used it, did they fit her and whether it was an item she wanted to take along to her new closet with the life she envisioned for herself or decide to donate it. For more expensive items, we suggest to consider selling through a consignment store like The Real Real or if you prefer selling them yourself, trying Tradesy.

Another fun challenge on this closet transformation: It was done on a budget! Yes, this closet transformation did not break the bank. It is actually more affordable than what you’d find at IKEA.

As you noticed on the Before picture, the existing closet system was not working for the needs of our client. They needed more space to hang clothes rather than fold, as well as, space for her handbags. Seeing the size of the closet was not that wide, we were already looking into how high we can install a functional closet system to fulfill her needs.

After removing the existing closet, due to all the nails and screws used to hold up both units and the hanging rods, we had to patch up the holes and give it a couple coats of paint to bring it up to par. Once that was complete, we went on to take measurements and plan out the type of system she would need. Taking into account how many of each item she currently had.

That’s how we settled on the Rubbermaid 3’-6’ Closet Kit, with space for storage high above, high and low hanging space, space for folded clothing, and the flexibility to adapt to her growing lifestyle. It was easy to install and an affordable price, which was important for my client. Another detail we added, matching Pink Velvet Clothing Hangers, giving it a chic feminine touch as well an organized and aesthetically beautiful uniformed feeling.

In order to really maximize the space we were working with, we installed acrylic floating shelves on the angled wall in the closet since the closet kit would not fit. To avoid leaving unused space and to relocate her hang bags, we took a moment to showcase them on that wall. This is a great way for her to see all of her clothing and handbags, and easily coordinate her outfits.

By seeing everything you have in your closet, you are able to make quicker decisions on what you want to wear and what items you would like to pair them with.

The way we arranged her clothing was, everyday pants and shirts hanging below, hanging above from left to right were dresses, knitted sweaters, cardigans, skirts and puffer jackets, and high above were crewnecks or sweatshirts. In the drawer organizer, found at Target, top to bottom, workout shirts and undergarments, workout pants and shorts, sleepwear, and dress pants and jeans. There are many ways to arrange a closet, select an organized system that fits your daily routine.

In the end, not only did we transform her closet to be much more functional and pleasing. We transformed her way of life, they way she wakes up every morning, her routine, her habits and removed any stress that her old closet was causing. Here’s the thing with clutter, you can ignore it, but it won’t go anywhere unless you take action and do something about it. By you ignoring the problem, it only gets worse and a much bigger pain to fix later but it is not impossible.

Through following the 10 steps, it makes it an achievable goal versus an overwhelming one. Yes, it will take time because you will be going through so many small nostalgic items and many pieces of clothing, but the finished product will create such a relief and you’ll be so happy you did it!

I believe in you, go on and conquer your closet!

If you need help transforming a space in your home, we would love to help you!
